United Airlines has announced they are moving up the date for the retirement of the 747 to 2017.
I have not been able to determine what that final flight will be or when and not even sure United knows yet.
BUT when it is announced, you best buy a ticket for that flight cause there won’t be any nonrev seats open on it. That is if you want to be on the last 747 flight by United. Which from what Scott Kirby says in this article might be one heck of a party and flight.
For you aviation geeks, United Airlines started flying the 747 in August of 1970. So the 747 has been in the UA fleet for 47 years.
