Currently the rules at the airport have been you need to be traveling with a valid ticket and boarding pass to get past TSA security.
If you wanted to go to some shopping at the airport and not traveling, it was not allowed.
If want to meet a loved one coming back say from a tour of duty overseas, you waited outside security for them to arrive.
Well now Pittsburg is the first airport that is going to allow non-fliers past security since 9/11.
If this works well, expect it to expand to other airports in the coming year.
