October 1, 2026 — Asiana Airlines (OZ) has added 73 international flights set aside for mileage redemptions, giving members a way to spend Asiana miles before the airline is folded into Korean Air on December 17.
The mileage flights
| Region | Flights | Travel dates |
|---|---|---|
| Tokyo and Osaka | 26 | November 3–28, 2026 |
| Beijing | 26 | November 9–27, 2026 |
| Hanoi and Manila | 21 | November 4 – December 10, 2026 |
Bookings opened at 9 a.m. on September 30. Seats not taken with miles can be sold as regular tickets. Off-peak awards cost 15,000 miles in economy and 22,500 in business to Japan and China, and 20,000 and 30,000 to Southeast Asia; peak dates cost 50% more.
The merger
- Asiana merges into Korean Air on December 17, 2026.
- The combined Korean Air will have more than 230 aircraft, 120-plus destinations and about 28,000 staff.
- Asiana’s Star Alliance membership ends; Korean Air stays in SkyTeam.
What it means for non-revs
- Some November flights will run fuller. Flights built around award redemptions are likely to carry more passengers, so check loads closely before you list on these dates and routes.
- Book Asiana partner travel before December 17. When Asiana leaves Star Alliance, existing ZED, interline and partner arrangements tied to Asiana are likely to change. New terms are TBA, so check your airline’s pass portal for updates.
- Korean Air partners may gain options. The combined airline’s larger network could open more choices for SkyTeam and Korean Air partner employees once agreements are updated.
