October 5, 2026 — Saint Lucia has a new small luxury resort on its best-known beach. Sapphire Sands Villas, a nine-villa property with butler service, is now open on Reduit Beach in Rodney Bay.

The resort belongs to Bay Gardens Resorts, a locally owned Saint Lucian hotel group. It is the company’s first five-star property. Executive Director Sanovnik Destang told Caribbean Journal it was “built and operated by Saint Lucians.”

Sapphire Sands was first announced for February 2026. Caribbean Journal reports it opened in late July 2026 and published a new look at the resort on October 4.

What is there

  • Nine beachfront villas with 27 keys. Each three-bedroom villa can be booked as a one-, two- or three-bedroom unit.
  • Full kitchens, living areas and ocean-view balconies in every villa.
  • Private plunge pools in select ground-floor units.
  • Butler service for every villa.
  • Moonstone Spa on the beach, plus a fitness center and yoga space.
  • Kimchi & Kalaloo, an Asian-Caribbean restaurant with Korean barbecue.

Guests can also use the restaurants and facilities at Bay Gardens’ other Rodney Bay hotels. The company’s pre-opening announcement listed a kids club for ages 4 to 12 and access to the Splash Island Waterpark.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Two airports, very different transfers. Caribbean Journal says the island’s smaller northern airport is about six miles from the resort. The main international airport means a longer ride north to Rodney Bay. Allow for that when listing for a same-day return.
  • Miami is the nonstop named in the reporting. Caribbean Journal puts the Miami–Saint Lucia nonstop at about 3 hours 50 minutes. Check loads early.
  • Only 27 keys. A resort this small can sell out on peak dates. Book a cancellable rate if your flights are standby.
  • Kitchens help with costs. This is not an all-inclusive, so the full kitchen lets a family self-cater some meals.
  • No airline-employee rate is published. Bay Gardens has not announced a travel-industry rate for Sapphire Sands. Ask the resort directly before booking.
