October 9, 2026 — Update to our October 8 story. Workers at TotalEnergies’ Normandy refinery near Le Havre voted Friday to continue their strike, and fuel shipments by truck and pipeline remain blocked. The company says the strike has ended at its other refining sites. No fuel shortage is reported.
What changed
- Normandy refinery: The CGT union renewed the strike Friday at Gonfreville-l’Orcher, Tendance Ouest reports. An end date is TBA.
- Other sites: Management says the strike was lifted elsewhere and counts twelve strikers. It says it is supplying stations by other means.
- Fuel stations: No shortage is reported. A rush at some pumps is linked to TotalEnergies’ price cap.
- Station closures: The CGT counted 29 TotalEnergies motorway stations closed Thursday; management counted 11. Most were in Brittany and the Paris region.
- Trains: We found no new SNCF, Paris transit or air traffic control strike notice. Saturday’s reduced Normandy timetable is TBA.
