PARIS, France, October 15, 2026 — Paris taxi drivers began a rolling roadblock toward Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) on Thursday morning, October 15, slowing traffic on the main motorway to the airport. Organizers say the protest could continue through Saturday, October 17.
What is happening
- The protest: About 2,000 taxi drivers were expected to join an opération escargot, a slow-moving convoy, The Local reports. It left Porte Maillot in western Paris early Thursday and headed toward CDG.
- Traffic: The worst delays were reported on the A1 motorway near Porte de la Chapelle and Le Bourget around 8 a.m., according to a roundup citing Le Parisien and the regional traffic service Sytadin.
- How long: Organizers said the action could run through Friday, October 16, and Saturday, October 17. Exact times and routes for those days: TBA.
- Flights: No flight cancellations or terminal closures have been reported because of the protest.
- Why: The Team Taxi collective says ride-hail services such as Uber and Bolt compete unfairly at the Paris airports. It wants zones where ride-hail apps cannot assign pickups, stricter checks on ride-hail drivers, and the return of staff who directed arriving passengers to licensed transport.
- Orly: The Local names only CDG. Whether Orly will be affected: TBA.
What it means for non-revs
- Leave much earlier if you are driving or taking a taxi to CDG through Saturday. The A1 is the main road route and was the slowest on Thursday morning.
- Consider the train. Rail to the airport avoids the motorway, though it may be busier than usual while the protest lasts.
- Arriving at CDG? Have a backup plan for getting into the city if taxi lines are long or roads are blocked.
- Missing a flight because of traffic means starting over. On a standby trip, budget extra time so a road delay does not cost you the last good flight of the day.
