October 26, 2026 — Update: An arbitration panel has set minimum services for this week’s two partial strikes on the Lisbon Metro, on the mornings of Wednesday, October 28, and Friday, October 30. Some trains will run on all four lines between 7 and 10 a.m., and the Aeroporto station will stay open, but many stations will be closed. Friday also brings a strike at national rail operator CP.

CP rail strike — October 30
The SFRCI union, which represents CP’s on-board ticket staff, has called a strike for Friday, October 30. CP warns trains may also be disrupted the day before and the day after. Affected lines and strike hours have not been published (TBA). Passengers with tickets for affected dates can get a refund or switch to another train of the same category and class, online through CP’s website or app, or at CP ticket offices.
What it means for airline travelers
- Arriving at Lisbon Airport early on Wednesday or Friday? No Metro trains are guaranteed before 7 a.m., and only two trains will be running on the Red line after that. Plan on a taxi, ride-hail or the airport bus instead.
- Going to the airport for an early standby flight on those mornings? Don’t rely on the Metro — leave extra time and book a car.
- Your Metro train may skip stations, so check that both your starting and ending stations are on the open list above.
- Planning a rail trip on Friday — for example to Porto or the Algarve? Check CP’s site the day before, and consider travelling on Wednesday or Saturday instead.
