November 3, 2026 — Flying Blue, the loyalty programme of Air France (AF) and KLM (KL), has raised the price of earning status points (XP) by contributing to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), One Mile at a Time reports.
Airline: Air France-KLM Group — Air France (AF), KLM (KL) · Countries: France and the Netherlands
What happened
Members used to earn one XP for every €10 they contributed to SAF. The rate is now one XP per €15, a 50% increase. Rounding has also been dropped: on a short-haul economy example, a €14 contribution now earns no XP, and it takes €28 to earn one.

The change took effect overnight, according to One Mile at a Time, which gave no formal effective date (TBA). The report says members can still earn one XP per 2,000 miles donated to environmental projects, and it does not say that rate changed. It notes the move follows other recent Flying Blue cuts, including higher prices for La Première awards and the end of free front-row business suite selection for Platinum members.
What it means for non-revs
There is no effect on staff travel. The story matters to airline people who also fly on paid tickets and chase elite status with Air France-KLM: topping up XP through SAF now costs half again as much, so check the new rate before you buy.
