BRISBANE, Australia — November 5, 2026 — Brisbane Airport (BNE) has set out a month of runway maintenance that will leave it on a single runway overnight for much of November, first on the western runway and then on the eastern one.
What is happening
The work covers runway grooving, surveying and other maintenance. The airport is not closing: aircraft keep using whichever runway remains open during each closure.
| Runway | Dates | Hours |
|---|---|---|
| Western runway 01L/19R (daytime closure) | Wednesday, Nov 4 (completed) | Noon – 2:30 p.m. |
| Eastern runway (daytime closure) | Nov 3 — cancelled because of weather | — |
| Western runway, overnight works | Nov 9 – Nov 18 (not Saturday, Nov 14) | Generally 9 p.m. – 6 a.m. |
| Eastern runway, overnight works | Nov 19 – Nov 28 (not Nov 21) | Overnight; exact hours TBA |
| Further daytime windows | Into December — TBA | TBA |
The schedule can change. Airlines affected and expected delays have not been published; running on one runway can reduce flexibility when traffic is heavy or the weather turns.
What it means for non-revs
- Late-evening and overnight flights are most exposed. If your flight arrives or departs between about 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. from November 9 to 28, build in extra connection time.
- Watch for knock-on delays on stormy nights, when single-runway operations have the least room to absorb holding.
- Daytime flights are not affected by the published overnight works, but more daytime windows into December are still to be announced; check again before December travel.
- Prefer an earlier flight if you are connecting onward from Brisbane late at night during the works.
