Airbnb has around 2,000 active listings across the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The are expanding to other Caribbean islands in a big way.
So a recent agreement signed between Airbnb and the United States Virgin Islands will be the first of what I expect to be many in the coming weeks and months with other island tourism offices.
The agreement with Airbnb will allow the platform to collect the territory’s 12.5 percent hotel room occupancy tax. The agreement also creates a framework to promote tourism to the U.S. Virgin Islands.
