Tirta Gangga

October 2, 2026 — The Kayon Gangga Resort, a 41-room luxury property beside the Tirta Gangga Water Palace in East Bali, is now open, its owner announced on October 1.

The resort is in Ababi, in Bali’s Karangasem regency. It belongs to Kayon Hotels & Resorts, a family-owned Balinese boutique group. Accommodation includes villas, and the resort organizes guest activities under four themes: celebrations, local heritage, adventures and wellness.

There are three restaurants: Kepitu for Balinese and Indonesian cooking, the casual Wanna Gangga, and Fujin, a Japanese teppanyaki room. Serayu Wellness is the spa, with Balinese-inspired treatments. Rates, and whether the resort is adults-only, were not stated.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Far from the usual Bali crowds: Karangasem is on the island’s eastern side, well away from the airport and the southern beach towns. The announcement gives no transfer time, so ask the resort before booking a short stay.
  • Independent hotel: there is no major-chain loyalty program here, and no travel-industry rate has been published.
  • Brand-new: no renovation disruption to worry about.
