October 3, 2026 — Norwegian Escape is crossing the Atlantic to Barcelona, where the ship will go into a 16-day drydock before returning to Florida for a winter of Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral.

The Norwegian Cruise Line ship, part of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, left New York in late September on a 16-night crossing, Cruise Industry News reports. A planned call at Sydney was cancelled because of bad weather in North America. The remaining route runs through Halifax, Ponta Delgada in the Azores, Gibraltar, Melilla, Ibiza and Palma de Mallorca, ending in Barcelona.

Drydock and return

Stage When Details
Drydock Mid-October 2026, 16 days (exact dates TBA) European shipyard, not named; described only as maintenance and updates
Return crossing Late October 2026, 16 nights (exact date TBA) Barcelona to Port Canaveral via Marseille, Palma de Mallorca, Cartagena, Motril, Cádiz, Tangier and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Winter season Mid-November 2026 through November 2027 Seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral to the Dominican Republic, British Virgin Islands and Bahamas, including Great Stirrup Cay

What it means for airline travelers

  • The return crossing is a one-way trip. You fly into Barcelona (BCN) and home from Florida. Orlando International (MCO) is the main airport for Port Canaveral; Melbourne (MLB) and Orlando Sanford (SFB) are alternatives.
  • Arrive in Barcelona at least a day early, two if you are flying standby across the Atlantic.
  • First sailings after a drydock carry extra risk. Yard work can overrun. If you are booked on the Barcelona departure or the first Port Canaveral cruises in mid-November, keep flights changeable and watch for emails from the line.
  • Interline and travel-industry rates: the report does not mention any change.
