October 15, 2026 — MSC Cruises will put an Eataly Italian restaurant on its newest ship, MSC World Asia, which has completed its final sea trials and is due to begin sailing in December.
Key details
- Delivery: November 25, 2026.
- Maiden voyage: December 4, 2026.
- Itinerary: seven-night Mediterranean cruises calling at Barcelona, Marseille, Messina, Civitavecchia (for Rome), Naples and Valletta. Homeport: not stated in the source (TBA).
- Eataly: regional and classic Italian dishes, show cooking with a dedicated table chef, terrace seating with sea views, and a wine-cellar visit at The Terrace Bar where guests choose their bottle. It is the second MSC ship with Eataly, after MSC World America, and one of more than 40 bars, lounges and restaurants on board.
MSC chief executive Gianni Onorato said food and hospitality are “at the heart of the experience we create for our guests.”
What it means for airline travelers
- Most of the ports on this route are close to major airports (Barcelona, Marseille, Rome Fiumicino, Naples, Malta), so check which port your booking starts from and fly into the nearest airport.
- Maiden voyages of brand-new ships sometimes see late changes. If you are booked on the December 4 sailing, fly in at least a day early, and earlier if you are flying standby in the busy pre-holiday period.
- No travel-industry or interline rates were mentioned.
