Air Canada and United put the biggest package on the board in the past 24 hours: six new transborder routes for summer 2027, three from each airline, filed under the two carriers’ joint business agreement. Delta added a daily Boston–Reykjavík seasonal, and American will open a new Miami route to Barcelona, Venezuela, in January. On the cutback side, Thai Lion Air and Hainan Airlines each pushed back the restart of a suspended route.

New Routes

Air Canada: Toronto (YYZ) → Louisville (SDF)

  • Starts: April 28, 2027 (seasonal, through October 31, 2027)
  • Frequency: Up to daily, going daily in May
  • Aircraft: TBA

Flights are AC8561/8562, leaving Toronto at 14:00 and Louisville at 16:10, per Air Canada’s schedule table.

Air Canada: Montréal (YUL) → Indianapolis (IND)

  • Starts: June 1, 2027 (seasonal, through September 30, 2027)
  • Frequency: Daily
  • Aircraft: TBA

Flights are AC8563/8564, leaving Montréal at 17:00 and Indianapolis at 14:00.

Air Canada: Edmonton (YEG) → Newark (EWR)

  • Starts: June 1, 2027 (seasonal, through October 17, 2027)
  • Frequency: Four times weekly
  • Aircraft: TBA

AC1562 leaves Edmonton at 06:00, and AC1563 leaves Newark at 13:20. Separately, Air Canada says it will put the larger Airbus A220 on its existing Edmonton–San Francisco flights. That adds capacity but is not a new route.

United: Newark (EWR) → St. John’s (YYT)

  • Starts: TBA (described as seasonal service for summer 2027)
  • Frequency: TBA
  • Aircraft: TBA

United: Denver (DEN) → Ottawa (YOW)

  • Starts: TBA (summer 2027)
  • Frequency: TBA
  • Aircraft: TBA

United: Denver (DEN) → Québec City (YQB)

  • Starts: TBA (summer 2027)
  • Frequency: TBA
  • Aircraft: TBA

United also plans more Washington Dulles–Québec City flights and a 65% increase in daily seats between Denver and Winnipeg. United has not yet released schedules for any of its new Canada routes. United’s network chief, Patrick Quayle, said: “Canada is an incredibly important part of United’s international network.” The expanded joint agreement still needs approval from Canadian regulators.

Delta: Boston (BOS) → Reykjavík (KEF)

  • Starts: April 12, 2027 (seasonal, through October 30, 2027)
  • Frequency: Daily
  • Aircraft: Boeing 757-200

Delta’s release adds Reykjavík to a 2027 transatlantic schedule that already includes Boston–Venice, Detroit–Athens and Austin–Paris. Those three were announced earlier. Airline Geeks reports that Delta last flew this route in 2021. Delta also says Boston–Milan goes daily in 2027.

American: Miami (MIA) → Barcelona, Venezuela (BLA)

  • Starts: January 15, 2027
  • Frequency: Three times weekly (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays)
  • Aircraft: Embraer 175

TravelPulse reports that bookings open October 19.

No US airline announced a route exit in the past 24 hours. Two Asian carriers extended existing suspensions.

Thai Lion Air: Bangkok Don Mueang (DMK) → Seoul Incheon (ICN)

  • Effective: Suspension now runs December 1, 2026 through March 27, 2027

The airline had filed to resume this route daily on Boeing 737-900ERs. It has now removed those flights from its schedule into late first-quarter 2027, according to AeroRoutes.

Hainan Airlines: Shenzhen (SZX) → Tel Aviv (TLV)

  • Effective: Suspension extended through November 2026. Tentative restart moves from November 1 to December 1, 2026

Hainan is also closing some November flights on its other Shenzhen long-haul routes, including Brussels, Budapest, Madrid, Milan, Paris, Rome and Vienna. Those routes are being reduced, not ended.
