October 21, 2026 — Aman at Sea has appointed Capt. Ertan Vasvi to command its first ship, the 94-passenger yacht Amangati, and has added a dozen Caribbean voyages running through March 20, 2028.
The captain and the ship
- Capt. Vasvi joins the shore team at the T. Mariotti shipyard, where Amangati is being completed, to oversee the build and hire and train the deck and bridge crews.
- He comes from Seabourn (from 2018, in command since 2023) and earlier served with Silversea (2009–2018).
- Vasvi said he looks forward to welcoming the first guests aboard in May 2027. Delivery date: TBA.
Caribbean season extended
The new 5- to 8-night voyages add to the autumn 2027 Caribbean sailings announced in June. The itineraries favor late departures, overnights and anchorages.

What it means for airline travelers
- Embarkation points named so far are St. John’s, Antigua (ANU), Bridgetown, Barbados (BGI) and Oranjestad, Aruba (AUA). Flights to these islands are less frequent than to big U.S. gateways, so arrive at least a day early, particularly when flying standby.
- Dutch Caribbean voyages run one way between Bridgetown and Oranjestad, so plan an open-jaw trip: fly into one island and home from the other.
- The March 20, 2028 finale ends in Funchal, Madeira; you would need a flight home from Madeira (FNC), typically via Lisbon or another European hub.
- The ship is still being built. First guests are planned for May 2027, but delivery is TBA, so avoid non-refundable flights for the earliest sailings.
- No travel-industry or interline rates were mentioned.
