October 24, 2026 — Carnival Cruise Line (Carnival Corporation) has put Carnival Luminosa, the 2,260-passenger ship built in 2009, into a drydock of nearly 30 days in Singapore.
How it got there and where it goes next
| Stage | Detail |
|---|---|
| Summer 2026 | Alaska season |
| Late September | 18 nights, San Francisco to Tokyo |
| October | 14-night one-way cruise, Japan to Singapore (Kobe, Fukuoka, Seogwipo, Keelung, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City) |
| Drydock | Singapore shipyard, about 30 days (exact dates and scope TBA) |
| Late November 2026 | Repositions from Southeast Asia to Brisbane |
| Summer 2026–27 (Southern Hemisphere) | 3- to 14-night cruises from Brisbane to New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Tonga and more |
Carnival has also said Luminosa will stop sailing seasonal Australian cruises from 2028.
What it means for airline travelers
- Brisbane (BNE) is the homeport. Long-haul flights from North America can be full in the Australian summer, so if you are flying standby, go two or more days early.
- Want a Luminosa cruise from Brisbane? Its Australian seasons end from 2028, so the chances to sail it there are limited.
- No travel-industry or interline rates were mentioned.
