October 24, 2026 — Variety Cruises, the Greek small-ship line, has named Steve Reynolds as CEO. He most recently was a senior vice president at Discover Qatar, Qatar Airways’ destination management company. Former CEO Filippos Venetopoulos, the third generation of his family to lead the line, becomes executive chairman. Effective date: TBA.

The change follows a financial restructuring. Variety says it wants to add more destinations and invest in its staff. Venetopoulos said the family must have “the courage to evolve what we have inherited.” No fleet or itinerary changes were announced.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Booked sailings are not affected; no schedule changes were announced.
  • If you are flying standby to meet a small-ship sailing, arrive a day early: small ships have few cabins and will not wait.
  • No travel-industry or interline rates were mentioned.
