October 27, 2026 — Dwarika’s Collection, the family-run group behind Kathmandu’s Dwarika’s Hotel, is promoting its new Dwarika’s Sanctuary. The 40-room hillside retreat above Dhulikhel bills itself as Nepal’s first luxury wellbeing retreat.
What is happening
The Sanctuary sits just outside Dhulikhel, a historic town on the old trade route to Tibet. It is about an hour from Kathmandu’s airport. The group says the retreat began offering three-night retreat programs this year. It has not published an exact opening date.
| Detail | What’s been announced |
|---|---|
| Property | Dwarika’s Sanctuary |
| Owner / operator | Dwarika’s Collection (independent, family-owned) |
| Location | Hillside above Dhulikhel, Nepal |
| Status | Open, with retreat programs running in 2026 (opening date TBA) |
| Rooms | 40, in hillside bungalows |
| Dining | Nature’s Flavours (global), Mako’s (Japanese omakase), Ananta Poolside (fusion); produce from the group’s six organic farms |

Rooms and lounges look out toward the Himalayas. Fabrics, linens and toiletries are made locally, and the toiletries draw on Nepali botanicals. Guests can also visit the group’s Darimbot Farm for lunch and a nearby Buddhist monastery.
What it means for airline travelers
- Getting there: Fly into Kathmandu; the retreat is about an hour away by road. Check current connections to Kathmandu before you book.
- Plan on a few nights: The retreat is built around three-night programs. It works best as part of a longer Nepal trip rather than a quick stop.
- Booking: Reservations are made through the Dwarika’s website. No rates were published.
- Rates: No travel-industry or airline-employee rate was mentioned.
