October 29, 2026 — Cabin crew at SAS Link, the regional subsidiary that flies shorter routes for Scandinavian Airlines (SAS, SK), walked off the job in Norway on Wednesday morning. SAS says no flights had been cancelled as of Wednesday night.
What happened
Members of the Norwegian union Fellesforbundet rejected a wage proposal that came out of state mediation between SAS Link and the employers’ group NHO Luftfart. That mediation ended on October 11, and the proposal went to a member vote. According to News in English, more than 80% of the flight attendants voted no. The strike began on Wednesday, October 28.

What the dispute is about
- Pay model: the union wants more of crew pay to be fixed salary rather than variable supplements, which it says makes income less predictable.
- Free weekends: the union says SAS Link wants to remove a contractual right to free weekends that crew won in the 2024 settlement.
- Two-tier pay: Fellesforbundet says SAS Link crew wear the same uniform and do the same work as other SAS cabin staff but sit on a separate agreement with weaker terms.
What SAS says
SAS Norway’s Karine Skaret told the news agency NTB that no flights had been cancelled because of the strike and that SAS expects limited effects on traffic based on what it knows now. SAS says it is watching closely, will adjust its operation if needed, and will contact affected passengers directly. Travelers are told to follow updates in the SAS app or on the SAS website.
What it means for non-revs
- Bergen is the pressure point. Most of the striking crew are based in Bergen, so short SAS flights touching Bergen are the ones most likely to be affected if SAS has to cancel.
- No cancellations yet, but no end date either. The union has not said whether more members will be called out. Check the SAS app the night before and the morning of travel, and look at whether your flight is operated by SAS Link.
- Have a backup. If a SAS Link flight is cancelled, rebooked customers will fill the remaining SAS flights first. Know your other options within Norway before you head to the airport.
- Long-haul and SAS mainline crews are not part of this strike. The action covers SAS Link cabin crew only, according to the union.
