BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — November 4, 2026 — ATE, the union representing staff of Argentina’s civil aviation authority (ANAC), has called protest action at 27 airports on Friday, November 6. At Ezeiza (EZE) and Aeroparque (AEP), workers plan a work-to-rule with slow, exhaustive inspections; at the other airports, a work stoppage.
What happened
- Announced: November 2, 2026.
- At EZE and AEP: a “paro a la japonesa”, a work-to-rule in which inspectors carry out exhaustive checks of aircraft, ramp equipment, construction work, runways and taxiways.
- At the other 25 airports: a work stoppage. Only medical, humanitarian, organ-transport and official flights are guaranteed.
- Why: the union cites shortages of airport firefighting staff, protective equipment and fuel for ground equipment.
- Hours: not published (TBA). End: TBA.
- Government and airlines: no government response or airline statement had been reported. When ATE took similar action on September 3–4, the government ordered that 75% of operations be maintained.
- Busy weekend: Pope Leo XIV is due to arrive in Argentina on Sunday, November 8, on an Aerolíneas Argentinas flight.
| Airports | Action on Friday, November 6 |
|---|---|
| Ezeiza (EZE), Aeroparque (AEP) | Work-to-rule with exhaustive inspections; hours TBA |
| 25 other Argentine airports | Work stoppage; only medical, humanitarian, organ-transport and official flights guaranteed |
What it means for non-revs
- Expect delays at EZE and AEP on Friday. Slow inspections can hold up departures and push flights later into the day.
- Domestic connections are the biggest risk. Flights to and from the 25 other airports could be cancelled if the stoppage goes ahead in full. Aerolíneas Argentinas, with the largest domestic network, is the most exposed.
- Move your trip if you can. Travel Thursday or wait until the weekend, and expect full flights afterwards as cancelled passengers are rebooked.
- Watch for a minimum-service order. In September the government required 75% of flights to operate; a similar order would reduce, but not remove, disruption.
- Carry on in case your flight is cancelled or moved.
