October 1, 2026 — Norwegian (DY) has taken delivery of the first of four Boeing 737-8s leased from CDB Aviation, the leasing arm of China Development Bank Financial Leasing.
The details
- Aircraft: Boeing 737-8, the first of four from CDB Aviation.
- Leases signed: December 2024.
- Delivery dates for the other three: TBA.
- Purpose: Part of Norwegian’s fleet renewal, replacing older jets with more fuel-efficient ones.
CEO Geir Karlsen called the delivery “another important step forward” in the airline’s fleet renewal.
What it means for non-revs
One new aircraft doesn’t change capacity in a way standby travelers will notice; the jets are part of a replacement program, not a big expansion. For enthusiasts and Norwegian staff, it’s another step in the airline’s ongoing fleet modernization.
