BURBANK, Calif., October 3, 2026 — Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) switches to its new replacement terminal on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. The airport entrance, parking and valet all move that day, and one parking lot closes for good. A ribbon-cutting is set for Monday, October 5. If you fly, commute or park at Burbank, your routine changes in ten days.

What is changing
- Entrance: the main airport entrance moves from Thornton Avenue to Winona Avenue and Hollywood Way on opening day.
- Parking and valet: the airport’s parking page says the parking structure and valet relocate to the new terminal on October 13 and close at the current terminal. Lot E closes permanently the same day. Online pre-booking is temporarily unavailable while the airport changes parking operators; drive-up parking is still offered.
- Rental cars: these stay at the Regional Intermodal Transportation Center, with a shuttle to the new terminal.
- Rail: a pedestrian path and an on-demand shuttle will link the terminal to the Burbank Airport–North Metrolink station.
- Size and gates: the building is 355,000 square feet, up from 232,000, but the gate count stays at 14. The project cost about $1.3 billion.
- Security: one central TSA checkpoint with eight lanes replaces the current setup, according to The Points Guy.
- Boarding: Burbank keeps outdoor boarding by airstairs. There are no jet bridges in the new terminal.
- Bags: a three-carousel indoor baggage claim and a new baggage screening system.
- Airlines: all carriers move. Nine airlines serve Burbank with nonstop flights to about 30 destinations. Gate assignments by airline are TBA.
- Employee parking, badging and crew access: TBA. None of the public sources we opened covered them.
What it means for non-revs
- Use the new address from October 13. Navigate to Winona Avenue and Hollywood Way, not the Thornton Avenue entrance. Rideshare drivers and family doing pickups may go to the old terminal out of habit, so tell them.
- Allow extra time for the first week or two. A new checkpoint, new curb and new garage on day one mean unfamiliar walking routes and likely teething problems. Standby passengers who clear late have less margin than most.
- Parking plans need a second look. If you normally use Lot E, it is gone on October 13. Pre-booking is not available right now, so have a backup such as Metrolink or a drop-off.
- Seat availability does not change. The gate count is still 14 and no source reported schedule changes tied to the move, so loads should look the same as before.
- Airline and airport employees: check with your station or the badging office for where employee parking and crew access will be on October 13. Those details have not been published.
- Still boarding outside. Airstairs remain, so plan for sun or rain on the ramp and for carrying your bag up the stairs.
