October 6, 2026 — Update to our October 5 story. Overnight rain left standing water on several Bangkok roads on Tuesday morning. The current weather warning runs through October 7, and forecasters now point to a heavier spell from October 9 to 13.
What changed
- New outlook: Renewed, heavier rain is forecast for October 9–13 across the East, the Central region including Bangkok, and the South. Yesterday’s forecast had the South next from October 8.
- Current warning: Through October 7, the Thai Meteorological Department warns of thunderstorms, gusts, hail and isolated very heavy rain in the North, the Central region including Bangkok, the East and the upper South.
- Bangkok on October 6: Water 5–10 cm deep stood at Bang Kapi intersection and on Ramkhamhaeng, Lat Krabang and Suwinthawong roads. All were passable for small vehicles. Thunderstorms were forecast over 70% of the city.
- Chiang Mai: A flash surge hit Mae Sa Noi Waterfall in Mae Rim at about 4 pm on October 5. Disaster officials told visitors to leave the waterway.

Not reported
We found no rail lines cut, no ferry suspensions and no airport disruption in the past 24 hours.
What it means for airline travelers
- Airport transfers: Lat Krabang Road, one of the flooded roads, is near Suvarnabhumi Airport. Leave extra time for road transfers to both Bangkok airports in downpours, or use the Airport Rail Link.
- In the North, stay out of waterfalls and streams through October 7. Flash surges arrive with little warning.
- Island transfers: Boat crossings in the Gulf and the Andaman Sea may be rough. Check with the operator on the morning of travel and avoid tight connections to flights.
- October 9–13: If you are flying standby to Bangkok, Phuket or Samui, build in a spare day. Weather delays fill later flights.
- Check the forecast daily. The outlook changed within 24 hours this week.
