Port of Setúbal: New Cruise Terminal Near Lisbon Is on Course to Open in 2027

October 7, 2026 — Construction of a new cruise terminal at Setúbal, Portugal, is progressing and the first guests are expected in 2027, Cruise Industry News reports. Ponant, Noble Caledonia and SeaDream Yacht Club are among the lines due to call.

The port sits on the River Sado, about 30 minutes from Lisbon’s international airport. The terminal is designed for luxury ships, mega yachts and expedition vessels, and will handle both day calls and turnarounds.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Airport: Lisbon (LIS). Setúbal is a short road transfer away, on the south side of the Tagus.
  • Check which port your cruise uses. A small-ship cruise sold as “Lisbon” could start or end in Setúbal from 2027. Confirm before booking hotels or transfers.
  • Lisbon standby loads are heavy in summer. Arrive a day early for any turnaround.
  • Interline rates: not mentioned in the report.
