October 8, 2026 — Update: talks between Air Corsica and its pilots have failed, and the SNPL and SPAC unions are keeping their strike notice for Friday, October 9 through Friday, October 16. It would be the first pilots’ strike in the airline’s history.

What happened

What changed: the strike notice was filed on October 1. On the evening of October 7, management publicly asked the pilots to withdraw it. On October 8, French trade press reported that negotiations had ended without agreement.

The two unions represent the airline’s 140 pilots. Management says it offered pay rises in two stages during 2027, plus better pay cover for pilots on reduced hours. Pilots accepted a two-year pay freeze and gave up seven days of leave under an earlier savings plan, and they oppose extending the freeze. They proposed a four-year deal that would start several months late.

The strike lands on an airline that is already short of aircraft. Five of its seven ATR 72-600s are grounded over recurring unexplained odours, mostly in the cockpit. Air Corsica is hiring in aircraft from Air France, Chalair, Amelia and Transavia.

What it means for non-revs

  • Avoid listing on Air Corsica from October 9 to 16. Cancellations are likely, and no flight programme had been published when this was written.
  • Seats were already scarce. With five ATRs grounded, any cancelled flight pushes revenue passengers onto the few that remain.
  • Watch the days after, too. A separate French crew strike notice covers October 17–21, so Corsica links could stay disrupted.
  • Look at other carriers to the island, but expect them to fill with rebooked passengers.
