October 8, 2026 — Minor Hotels has broken ground on Anantara Siniya Island Resort in Umm Al Quwain, an emirate of the UAE about 50 minutes from Dubai. The resort is due to open in 2030.
The project was announced on October 7. It pairs a 125-key Anantara resort with 125 branded homes, sold as Anantara Residences Sobha Siniya Island. The developer is Sobha Al Siniya FZC, a joint venture of Sobha Realty and the emirate’s property investment arm.
The resort is the main hotel in a larger waterfront masterplan on Siniya Island. A 1.7-kilometer bridge links the island to the mainland. Umm Al Quwain borders Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah.
Details are thin at this stage. Minor has not released restaurant, spa or room-type information. Its chairman, William Heinecke, said Anantara “will play an integral role” in the island’s hospitality. The Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain attended the groundbreaking.

What it means for airline travelers
- This is a long way off. Nothing will be bookable for years, and 2030 dates this far out often move.
- Dubai is the practical gateway. The developer puts the emirate about 50 minutes from Dubai. No airport transfer details have been published.
- A beach alternative to Dubai’s big resorts. With 125 keys on an island, it is pitched as a quieter stay than the city’s large hotels.
- Rates and loyalty details are TBA. Minor has said nothing yet about pricing or travel-industry offers.
