October 10, 2026 — Holland America Line has filled in the details of its 28-day Pan Am 100th anniversary cruise, a round trip from Miami on Zuiderdam that leaves October 30, 2027. The line named its speakers, menus and four Pan Am-themed shore excursions.

The voyage

Item Detail
Ship Zuiderdam
Departure October 30, 2027, round trip from Miami
Length 28 days
Ports 18 Caribbean and Central American stops along former Pan Am routes; full list not published in the reports
Fares TBA

Pan Am-themed shore excursions

  • Cartagena, Colombia: “Pan Am’s Golden Age: Cartagena’s Jet Set,” a classic roadster tour.
  • Colón, Panama: the Agua Clara Locks and the Panama Canal Railway.
  • St. John’s, Antigua: “High Point,” a trip to Shirley Heights for the harbor view flying boat navigators once used.
  • Port of Spain, Trinidad: “Pan Am’s Caribbean: Wings of Trinidad,” including Chaguaramas, the airline’s former flying boat base.

On board

  • Speakers: actor Willie Aames; Linda Freire and David Hinson of the Pan Am Museum Foundation; storyteller Steve Gray; and travel executive David Kliman, a longtime pilot and Pan Am passenger.
  • Clipper Club: the ship will recreate elements of Pan Am’s airport lounges.
  • Menus: dishes drawn from Pan Am service, including shrimp cocktail, cream of tomato soup, filet mignon, sole en croûte and a Grand Marnier soufflé.
  • Cocktails: “The Pan Am” (white rum, Campari, orgeat) and “The Clipper” (Mount Gay rum, Dolin Blanc, grenadine).

Holland America planning chief Paul Grigsby said Pan Am turned “the journey into an experience.” Holland America Line is part of Carnival Corporation.

What it means for airline travelers

  • This one is aimed squarely at airline people. If Pan Am history matters to you or a retiree in your family, the speaker list and the Chaguaramas visit are the draw.
  • Round trip from Miami keeps flights simple: Miami (MIA) is closest and Fort Lauderdale (FLL) is a workable alternative. Fly in at least a day early if you are on standby.
  • A 28-day cruise needs four weeks off. Check vacation bidding and pass-travel eligibility dates now for late October and November 2027.
  • Counting 28 days from October 30 puts the return around November 27, 2027, the weekend after U.S. Thanksgiving and one of the hardest of the year for a standby seat out of South Florida. Confirm the end date when you book and consider a confirmed ticket home.
  • Fares and any interline or travel-industry rates: TBA. Ask your interline agency whether the sailing is included.
