October 10, 2026 — Disney Cruise Line is testing wristbands in place of its plastic Key to the World cards on the Disney Treasure cruise that leaves Port Canaveral today. Disney told travel advisors the trial covers this one sailing and is not the start of a fleetwide switch.
The sailing
- Ship: Disney Treasure
- Dates: October 10 to October 17, 2026, seven nights
- Homeport: Port Canaveral, Florida
- Itinerary: Eastern Caribbean “Halloween on the High Seas” cruise calling at Tortola, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay
How the test works
| If you… | What happens at check-in |
|---|---|
| Already own a DisneyBand+ | It is activated for the cruise as usual and still works at other Disney experiences afterward. |
| Do not own a DisneyBand+ | You receive a Key to the World wristband that works on this sailing only. |
- The wristband replaces the card normally left at the stateroom door. It serves as room key and onboard charge card.
- Guests return the loaner wristbands to collection bins outside the terminal at the end of the cruise.
- No charge for the wristband was mentioned. Whether guests can ask for a standard card instead: TBA.
- Staterooms still need a card in the wall slot to power lights and air conditioning. Any card works, so pack a spare such as an old hotel key.
Disney described the trial as one of several ideas it tests and said “not all of them become part of our operation.” No other test sailings have been confirmed. Disney Cruise Line is part of The Walt Disney Company.
What it means for airline travelers
- Nothing changes for flights, documents or boarding times. Orlando (MCO) remains the main airport for Port Canaveral, about an hour away by road.
- Bring a spare card for the stateroom power slot so you do not have to leave a credit card or ID in it.
- If you collect Key to the World cards as souvenirs, you may not get one on this sailing.
- Sailing on another Disney ship or date? Expect the usual cards unless Disney tells you otherwise.
- No fare, fee or travel-industry rate change comes with the test.
