October 10, 2026 — The Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel takes its final check-ins today and closes in its entirety from October 12, 2026 for a full refurbishment. Disney has not announced a reopening date.

The 400-room, Victorian-style hotel is the resort’s original flagship and opened with the park in 2005. Hong Kong Disneyland’s website now says the hotel is temporarily closed in its entirety from October 12 to upgrade facilities and services, and that it will welcome guests back at a future date. Renovation work on the west side of the building has been under way since June 2026.

Disney Fanatic and Inside the Magic, citing a July 29 resort announcement, report that October 10 is the last check-in day and that guests already in house can finish their stays. A resort spokesperson told broadcaster RTHK in September that the hotel will keep its “classic storytelling charm” after the work. The South China Morning Post reports the rooms will be themed to Disney films.

What closes with it

  • All guest rooms, with no bookings accepted from October 12.
  • Hotel dining. Disney Fanatic lists Enchanted Garden Restaurant (character dining), Crystal Lotus, Walt’s Cafe, The Grand Salon and the seasonal Sea Breeze Bar. Disney has not said whether any will relocate.
  • Hotel pools and other facilities, as the entire building is closed.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Do not plan on this hotel for a Hong Kong trip. With no reopening date, treat it as unavailable until Disney announces one.
  • Two on-site hotels remain. Disney Explorers Lodge and Disney’s Hollywood Hotel are open and bookable on the resort’s website. With 400 of the resort’s rooms out of service, expect less availability on peak dates and book earlier than usual.
  • Payment terms matter for standby travelers. The resort’s website says full payment for the whole stay is charged at booking. Check the cancellation terms before you commit if your flights are not confirmed.
  • Character dining. Enchanted Garden was the hotel’s character meal. If that was the point of your stay, check what is on offer at the other two hotels and in the park before you book.
  • Gateway. Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) serves the resort. The sources do not mention any airline-employee or travel-industry rate at the resort hotels.
