October 11, 2026 — A five-day strike notice covering every pilot and flight attendant employed under French labor law still stands for October 17–21, even though a separate French air traffic control strike has been called off. Air France, Transavia France, Corsair and Volotea expect the heaviest disruption.
What happened
Travel Extra reported on October 10 that the SNCTA controllers’ union dropped a planned three-day air traffic control strike after reaching agreements with management and France’s civil aviation authority. That removes one threat to French airspace this month.
The flight crew notice is a different dispute and has not been withdrawn. It runs from 00:01 on Saturday, October 17 to 23:59 on Wednesday, October 21, Paris time, which is the first weekend of the Toussaint school holidays. Five unions filed it: SNPL, UNSA-PNC, SNPNC-FO, SNGAF and UNAC.
The target is the French government, not any one airline. The unions are protesting a state pension reform, and they have said they remain open to talks, so the strike could still be shortened or cancelled.
| Item | Detail |

| Strike window | October 17, 00:01 to October 21, 23:59 (Paris time) |
| Who is covered | All pilots and cabin crew on French contracts |
| Heaviest impact expected | Air France (AF), Transavia France (TO), Corsair (SS), Volotea (V7) |
| Possible local impact | easyJet and Ryanair flights flown by French-based crews |
| Airline cancellation lists | TBA — none published yet |
| Air traffic control strike | Called off |
Travel Extra said “Major impacts are anticipated for Air France, Transavia France, Volotea and Corsair.” How many flights actually operate will depend on how many crew members walk out.
What it means for non-revs
- Avoid Air France, Transavia France, Corsair and Volotea from October 17 through 21 if you can. Cancelled flights push revenue passengers onto whatever still operates, and standby travelers are last in line.
- Allow for spillover. October 16 and October 22–23 are likely to be busy as people move trips around the strike, on top of the school holiday peak.
- Connecting through Paris on a ZED ticket? Delta and KLM flights to and from France are not covered by the notice, but they will absorb rebooked Air France passengers. Routing through Amsterdam, London or Frankfurt is the safer plan that week.
- Watch for the cancellation lists. None is out yet. Check again a few days before you travel, and keep an eye out for news of a deal with the government.
