October 12, 2026 — Atlas Ocean Voyages has released its 2028/29 Antarctica season: 25 expeditions from October 2028 through March 2029. Fly-and-sail options grow, and travelers who book by December 31, 2026 keep today’s published fares.

The season

Expedition Length Notes
Drake Express 7 nights Flights over the Drake Passage both ways; six full days on the Antarctic Peninsula
Drake Fly & Sail TBA Sail the Drake one way, private charter flight the other; four departures, up from two in 2027/28
Antarctic Discovery 9 nights Drake Passage by sea both ways; the November 16, 2028 departure marks 100 years since the 1928 flight from Deception Island
Crossing the Antarctic Circle 12 nights Two departures, seven expedition days
Grand Antarctica 18 nights Departs January 7, 2029; Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands

Ships, departure airports and base fares were not given. Booking offers include up to 10% savings and Explorer’s Choice perks, such as up to £1,500 in air savings per suite, a one-night hotel package or upgraded Wi-Fi. New pricing takes effect January 1, 2027.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Gateway airports were not published. Whichever city the expedition starts from, plan to arrive at least a day or two early; a missed connection can mean a missed expedition.
  • Fly-and-sail and Drake Express trips depend on charter flights that weather can delay, so leave slack in your flights home.
  • If you are flying standby, the long-haul legs are the hard part. Check loads well ahead and consider a paid ticket for the final leg to the gateway city.
  • To keep current fares you must book by December 31, 2026.
  • No travel-industry or interline rate was mentioned.
