October 15, 2026 — Hurricane Simon has knocked Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán off Carnival Panorama’s current Mexican Riviera cruise, with Ensenada added at the end. Separately, Carnival has launched four “FunPacks” bundles and says drink-package and Wi-Fi prices will vary by sailing from December 1, 2026.

Carnival Panorama: two Mexico ports cancelled

Carnival Panorama left its homeport of Long Beach, California, on October 10, 2026, on an eight-night Mexican Riviera cruise. Rough weather made it unsafe to run water shuttles at Cabo San Lucas on the first scheduled call, and Carnival then told guests that because of where Hurricane Simon was sitting, the ship could not visit Puerto Vallarta or Mazatlán. The ship went to La Paz instead, made its Cabo San Lucas call on October 14 (7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., per ship-tracking data reported by Cruise Hive), and will add Ensenada on Saturday, October 17.

Date Original plan Revised plan
Tue, Oct 13 Puerto Vallarta La Paz
Wed, Oct 14 Mazatlán Cabo San Lucas, 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Thu, Oct 15 La Paz Moved to Oct 13
Fri, Oct 16 Cabo San Lucas Moved to Oct 14
Sat, Oct 17 Not scheduled Ensenada, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (added)
  • Carnival-booked tours in Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán are cancelled and refunded automatically to guests’ Sail & Sign accounts.
  • Cabo San Lucas tours were moved to the October 14 call. Ensenada tours can be booked in the Carnival HUB app or at the Carnival Adventures or Guest Services desks.
  • No other compensation was reported.

Simon was a Category 1 hurricane in Wednesday’s National Hurricane Center update and may pass just west of the Baja Peninsula, or come ashore there, over the weekend. Cruise Hive notes other ships are due in Cabo San Lucas in the coming days: Carnival Firenze on October 16, Royal Caribbean’s Voyager of the Seas on October 18, and Discovery Princess and Virgin Voyages’ Brilliant Lady on October 19.

FunPacks replace Carnival’s Value packages

Carnival has introduced four pre-cruise bundles, priced per person, per day, that it says save 35% to 55% compared with buying each item separately. Service charges on the drink and dining parts are covered where applicable.

FunPack Price (per person, per day) What is included
Kidstarter (ages 3–17) $25 Bottomless Bubbles soda and juice package with souvenir cup, Social Wi-Fi, 1,000 arcade tokens, lanyard, 50% off bulk candy
Zero Proof $50 Cheers! Zero Proof non-alcoholic package, Value Wi-Fi, $50 shore excursion discount, $25 specialty dining discount
Social $60 New Cheers! Social package (3 alcoholic drinks a day plus unlimited non-alcoholic), Premium Wi-Fi, one shore excursion (up to $100), one specialty dinner (up to $55), 50% off spa and photo purchases
Epic $99 Cheers! package (15 alcoholic drinks a day plus unlimited non-alcoholic), Premium Wi-Fi, two excursions (up to $100 each), two specialty dinners (up to $55 each), 50% off spa and photos, a bottle of sparkling wine, one bag of laundry
  • Booking window: October 14–30, 2026, through My Cruise Manager on carnival.com.
  • Eligible sailings: departing October 31, 2026, through December 31, 2027.
  • Cheers! Social is sold only as part of the Social FunPack.
  • Dynamic pricing: from December 1, 2026, drink-package and Wi-Fi prices will vary by sailing length, itinerary and season. Carnival has not said how today’s fixed rates will change (new rates: TBA).

What it means for airline travelers

  • Carnival Panorama is due back in Long Beach after its October 17 Ensenada call, at the end of its eight-night cruise. Long Beach Airport (LGB) is closest; Los Angeles (LAX) has far more flights. If you are flying standby home on disembarkation day, list on an afternoon flight or later and have a backup, as storm-affected ships can arrive late.
  • If you are booked on a Mexican Riviera sailing from Long Beach or Los Angeles in the next week, expect possible port swaps while Simon is near Baja. Port changes like these normally mean refunds of line-booked tours rather than fare refunds.
  • Booked on Carnival for November 2026 through 2027? Compare a FunPack against buying a drink package and Wi-Fi separately before October 30 — after December 1 those add-ons will be priced per sailing, so locking in early may matter.
  • None of the sources mentioned any change to travel-industry or interline rates.
