October 16, 2026 — JetBlue has started selling BlueFirst, its new domestic first class cabin on aircraft that do not have Mint. The first BlueFirst flight is on December 8.
What happened
BlueFirst launches on December 8, 2026 with daily Boston–Fort Lauderdale flights. Fort Lauderdale–New York LaGuardia follows a few days later. More than 30 routes are bookable, phased in from December through April:
| Starting | Examples |
|---|---|
| December | Fort Lauderdale to/from Boston, Buffalo, Liberia (Costa Rica), LaGuardia and Washington, D.C. |
| January | Boston to Austin and Houston, plus Fort Lauderdale, JFK and LaGuardia routes to the Caribbean, Latin America and Florida |
| February | Boston–Fort Myers, plus Fort Lauderdale and JFK routes to destinations such as Cancún, Dallas/Fort Worth and Aruba |
| March | Fort Lauderdale to Medellín and Westchester; Westchester to Fort Myers and West Palm Beach |
| April | Boston to destinations such as Denver, Orlando, San Juan and Tampa |
JetBlue says BlueFirst may only be sold on some flights or dates. The aircraft types and the number of BlueFirst seats per aircraft have not been published (TBA).
The product
- Seats are in a two-by-two layout, with five inches of recline and up to seven extra inches of legroom compared with Main seats.
- Each seat has a 13.3-inch screen with Bluetooth and seatback ordering.
- A full meal is served on flights of 899 miles or more, and premium snacks on all flights.
- There are three fares: BlueFirst Base, BlueFirst and BlueFirst Flex. Flex adds refunds and no fees for same-day switches or standby.
- Introductory one-way fares started at $249 between LaGuardia and Fort Lauderdale. Those fares had to be booked by 11:59 p.m. ET on October 16.
JetBlue CEO Joanna Geraghty called it “a more accessible first-class experience.”
TrueBlue changes
- Mosaic 3 and 4 members get Premium Upgrade Certificates, which replace Move to Mint certificates. These can be used for Mint or BlueFirst.
- Mosaic members on eligible fares get free space-available upgrades to BlueFirst before departure. Main Base and Even More Base fares do not qualify. Full upgrade rules are TBA.
- Mosaic 4 members and eligible JetBlue Premier Card holders keep BlueHouse lounge access when booking BlueFirst Base.
What it means for non-revs
- BlueFirst seats will be filled first by paying customers and then by Mosaic members’ free space-available upgrades. Do not count on a BlueFirst seat when traveling on a pass, especially on the early Boston and Fort Lauderdale routes.
- JetBlue has not said how many BlueFirst seats each aircraft will have, or whether Main cabin seats will be removed to make room (TBA). Watch Main cabin loads on these routes once flights start in December.
- If you want to try the new cabin, the first flights are December 8 (Boston–Fort Lauderdale), with LaGuardia–Fort Lauderdale a few days later.
- JetBlue has not said whether employees or pass riders can be upgraded into BlueFirst, or with what priority (TBA).
