October 17, 2026 — Norwegian Bliss has cancelled today’s call at Acapulco, Mexico, to keep clear of Hurricane Trudy. The 4,004 guests on the ship’s 19-night repositioning voyage from Los Angeles to New York will spend the day at sea instead.

The voyage

Item Details
Ship Norwegian Bliss
Departed Los Angeles, Tuesday, October 13, 2026
Ends New York City, Sunday, November 1, 2026
Cancelled Acapulco, Saturday, October 17 (was 7:30 a.m.–6 p.m.)
Replacement None — sea day
Panama Canal transit Saturday, October 24 (scheduled)

Guests were told by letter onboard, which pointed to “the projected path of Hurricane Trudy.” The ship had already called at Cabo San Lucas on October 15. Remaining stops include Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Jamaica and Florida, and no other changes had been confirmed when Cruise Hive reported the story on October 16. Ship-tracking data showed Bliss well offshore, away from the storm.

The National Hurricane Center’s Friday-morning update put Trudy about 235 miles southwest of Acapulco with 120 mph winds, a major Category 3 storm, and forecast it to strengthen and pass near the coast of southwestern and west-central Mexico Saturday night into Sunday.

Refunds

Norwegian shore excursions in Acapulco are cancelled automatically and refunded to onboard accounts. Guests can rebook tours in other ports at the Shore Excursion Desk on Deck 6. The report did not mention port-fee refunds.

What it means for airline travelers

  • The voyage is still due to end in New York on November 1. Keep your flight home from the New York area, but avoid tight same-day connections in case the canal schedule slips.
  • Watch for further changes. Norwegian needs to hold its October 24 Panama Canal slot, so later ports could still shift.
  • Planning to fly down and meet friends on board in Mexico? Acapulco is off the itinerary; do not book a flight there for this ship.
  • No change to interline or travel-industry cruise rates was mentioned.
