October 20, 2026 — IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed its first hotel in Luang Prabang, Laos: the Holiday Inn Resort Luang Prabang Naluang Hill, a 101-key hillside resort scheduled to open in 2027.
What is happening
IHG announced the signing on October 19 with its local partner, Naluang International Resort and Hotel Limited. The resort will sit on Naluang Hill, with views over the city and close to the UNESCO-listed old town.

What it means for airline travelers
- A branded option in a hard-to-reach town: this will be IHG’s first property in Luang Prabang, so IHG One Rewards members will be able to earn and use points there once it opens.
- Getting there: IHG named Luang Prabang International Airport (LPQ) as part of the region’s improving connectivity but did not give a distance. Check flights and transfers before you plan.
- Families: the Kids Stay & Eat Free program makes it worth a look for family trips.
- Timing: no booking date has been announced. IHG did not mention travel-industry or airline-employee rates.
