October 22, 2026 — Update: Corazul Cruceros, the Spanish start-up launching cruises in South America, has pushed back the debut of its first ship, the Buenavista. What is new: the October 23 shakedown cruise and the October 26 maiden cruise have been cancelled, and the first sailing will now leave on October 30, 2026.

What changed

Item Before Now
Shakedown cruise October 23, 2026 Cancelled
Maiden cruise October 26, 2026 Cancelled
First sailing October 26, 2026 October 30, 2026
Ship’s arrival in Santos TBA Early hours of October 29, 2026 (per AIS data)

Local reports link the cancellations to delays in the ship’s long repositioning from Hong Kong, which included technical stops in Singapore, Mauritius and South Africa. In a statement to Portal G1 Santos, Corazul pointed to “adverse sailing conditions” and slow administrative authorizations from government agencies. The company noted that schedule changes are not unusual during intercontinental repositioning.

The ship and the season

  • Ship: Buenavista, built 1995, 1,806 passengers, previously sailed for Astro Ocean Cruises in China.
  • Homeport: Santos, Brazil, with Rio de Janeiro also used as a departure port.
  • Maiden season: three- to seven-night cruises; shorter trips call at Balneário Camboriú, Búzios, Ilhabela and Cabo Frio.
  • January–February 2027: week-long cruises to Brazil’s Northeast with overnight calls in Salvador.
  • Compensation for cancelled guests: not reported — TBA.

What it means for airline travelers

  • If you were booked on the October 23 or October 26 sailings, contact Corazul or your travel agent about refund or rebooking options before changing flights; the line has not published compensation terms.
  • If you hold flights to São Paulo for those dates, look at changing them now rather than at the airport. Santos is reached by road from the São Paulo airports.
  • Booked on October 30 or later? The ship is only due in Santos on October 29, so a further slip is possible. Keep flights flexible and fly in a day early, especially if you are traveling standby.
  • None of the sources mentioned travel-industry or interline rates for Corazul.
