SINGAPORE — November 3, 2026 — Some self-service check-in kiosks at Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) stopped working for about two and a half hours on Monday morning, November 2, forcing some airlines to check passengers in by hand. Changi Airport Group (CAG) blamed a global disruption to Advance Passenger Processing systems and said other airports were affected too.
What happened
- When: from about 8:30 a.m. to about 11 a.m. Singapore time on November 2.
- What failed: affected kiosks could not process self check-in or print boarding passes. A kiosk out of service in Terminal 4 was pictured; other terminals and the airlines involved were not named.
- Cause: CAG said the problem arose “due to a global disruption in Advance Passenger Processing systems.” It did not name the other airports affected: TBA.
- Response: some airlines switched to manual check-in, and Changi ground staff helped airlines and passengers.
- Flights: a Straits Times check found no flights were delayed.
- Status: check-in for all affected airlines was back to normal at around 11 a.m.
What it means for non-revs
- No effect on loads. No flights were delayed, so there is no backlog of displaced passengers.
- Get to the counter early on morning departures. When kiosks fail, everyone joins the agent queue, where staff travelers often have to check in anyway.
- Print or save your boarding pass when you can, but expect to be processed at the counter during any repeat outage.
