November 4, 2026 — Fort George, the historic waterfront hotel in Belize City, has joined Marriott’s Autograph Collection, making it the second Autograph Collection hotel in Belize. A new 66-room Signature Sea View Tower, a waterfront pool and new places to eat and drink are due to follow later this fall.
What is happening
Caribbean Journal reported on November 3, 2026 that Fort George Belize is now part of the Autograph Collection, Marriott’s group of independent-style hotels. It joins Alaia Belize on Ambergris Caye, which opened under the brand in 2021. The hotel has 64 rooms and suites today. The Signature Sea View Tower, designed by Arguelles Architects, will add 66 rooms, for 130 in total, including king and queen rooms and two Signature Sea View Penthouses. Caribbean Journal says the tower, new dining and waterfront pool are scheduled to follow "later this fall"; exact dates are TBA. The owner was not named.

What it means for airline travelers
- Getting there: the hotel is about 17 km from Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (BZE), according to Air Canada Vacations. That listing says airport transfers are not included in its packages and can be arranged with the hotel, which offers a shuttle for an extra charge.
- Points: as an Autograph Collection hotel, Fort George is now part of Marriott Bonvoy, so members can earn and redeem points on a Belize City stay.
- Expect some work in progress: the new tower, restaurant and pool are still to come this fall. If you are booking in the next few weeks, ask the hotel which facilities are open and whether construction is nearby.
- A handy stopover: a city-waterfront hotel near BZE is useful for a night before or after a flight connection to the cayes or the mainland.
- Industry rates: the report does not mention travel-industry or airline-employee rates. Check Marriott’s employee or industry rate channels before you book.
