October 2, 2026 — Holland America Line, part of Carnival Corporation, has opened bookings for its 2028 Canada and New England season, with Volendam and Zuiderdam sailing between May and October 2028 from Montréal, Québec City, Boston, New York and Fort Lauderdale.

The line says it will call at Montréal more often than any other cruise line in 2028. Cruise Hive counts 27 sailings of seven to 14 days. Zuiderdam joins the region for the first time after a spring 2028 refit that adds new stateroom types. Itineraries include seven-day runs between Boston and Montréal or Québec City, round trips from Boston, late-evening stays in Charlottetown and Saint John, and overnights in Québec City.

Departure (2028) Ship Cruise
May 13 Volendam 14 days, Fort Lauderdale to Montréal (season opener)
May 27 and Aug. 29 Volendam 11 days round trip from Montréal, including Saint-Pierre and Miquelon and St. John’s
June 7 Volendam 10 days, Montréal to Boston, via Québec and Newfoundland
Aug. 19 Volendam 10 days, Boston to Montréal
Sept. 30 Volendam 9 days, Montréal to New York
Oct. 14 Zuiderdam 14 days, Québec City to Fort Lauderdale (season closer)

A Holland America executive said the region offers “the feel of Europe without crossing the Atlantic.” Fares and any booking promotion were not detailed in the reports (TBA).

What it means for airline travelers

  • Most of these are one-way cruises. You will fly into one city and home from another, for example into Boston (BOS) and out of Montréal (YUL) or Québec City (YQB). Check standby loads on both ends before you commit.
  • Québec City has far fewer flights than Montréal or Boston. If you are non-revving, a one-way that ends in Québec City may mean connecting through Montréal or Toronto, or taking the train to Montréal.
  • Passports: these sailings cross the U.S.–Canada border, and some call at Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, which is French territory. Travel with a passport.
  • Fall foliage sailings in late September and October are peak season for flights into Boston and Montréal. Arrive a day early.
  • Interline rates: the reports do not say whether the new season is available at travel-industry rates yet.
