October 3, 2026 — Delta Air Lines (DL) will let SkyMiles members check one case of wine for free from five Northern California airports, starting Tuesday, October 6.

Delta announced the program, called SkyMiles Wine Takes Flight, on October 2. A SkyMiles member flying to a US destination can check one qualifying case of wine at no charge when departing from one of the five airports below. A case is up to 12 standard 750 ml bottles.

What it means for non-revs
- Whether pass riders qualify is not stated. The published terms cover paid and award tickets. They do not mention non-revenue or buddy-pass travel. Check Delta’s employee travel site, or ask at the counter, before you count on it.
- Allow counter time. The case has to be inspected at the ticket counter. That rules out a kiosk-and-go bag drop, so arrive earlier if you are checking wine.
- A checked case and standby do not mix well. If you do not clear, your wine may travel without you or need to be pulled. Consider checking it only on a flight you are confident of getting on.
