October 3, 2026 — Update to our October 2 story. Thailand’s floods have now killed at least 24 people across Bangkok and 31 provinces, the Chiang Rai Times reports. Thai Airways set out rebooking and refund options on October 2, and the state railway cut six Eastern Line trains short.
What changed
- Thai Airways: for Bangkok Suvarnabhumi flights dated September 26 to October 11, on tickets issued by September 29, passengers can change dates free, reroute (fare difference applies), or take a full refund if the flight is cancelled or delayed more than three hours.
- Flights: flooding on October 1–2 forced dozens of cancellations and schedule changes and left a baggage backlog.
- Rail: six Eastern Line trains ran only between Bangkok and Prachinburi on October 2–3. There is no service to Kabin Buri or the Ban Klong Luk border crossing until the water recedes. The railway’s hotline is 1690.
- Forecast: thundershowers in Bangkok and 36 provinces on October 3–4, with isolated heavy rain in Phuket, Krabi, Phang Nga and Trang. The heavier spell on October 4–7 is still forecast.
- Government: the prime minister ordered all 76 provinces to prepare and told Bangkok to speed up pumping.
What it means for airline travelers
- Thai Airways tickets: the waiver is written for regular tickets. Staff and ZED travelers should ask their own pass bureau what applies.
- Standby: cancelled flights mean displaced revenue passengers and full loads. Expect to wait.
- Cambodia by land: the rail route to the Aranyaprathet border is cut. Do not plan on it.
- Baggage: carry essentials and medication in your hand bag while the backlog clears.
- Phuket and Krabi: heavy rain and waves above two metres are forecast. Check boat transfers before you go.
