October 4, 2026 — The Grand Bohemian Charleston has been renamed Hotel Operis, with a new rooftop restaurant and a theater-themed redesign. The 50-room hotel remains part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection.

The Post and Courier reports the new name took effect on September 30, 2026. The Arden Room Rooftop Bar & Dining opened the next day. The hotel is at 55 Wentworth Street in Charleston’s historic district.

The name comes from the Latin opus, meaning work, and nods to opera. The hotel is within walking distance of 11 theaters. Xenia Hotels & Resorts owns the property and Davidson Hospitality Group manages it.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Bonvoy still applies. The hotel stays in Marriott Bonvoy, so points and elite benefits work as before. Reconfirm any booking made under the old name.
  • It is not cheap. The Post and Courier cites rates from $299 in low season to more than $800 a night at peak. Upgraded Points found a sample night at $338 or 80,500 Bonvoy points.
  • Airport: Marriott lists Charleston International (CHS) about 12.4 miles away. Valet parking is $58 a day, so skip the rental car if you are staying downtown.
  • Search under the new name. Travel-rate portals and booking sites may list the hotel as either Grand Bohemian or Hotel Operis for a while.
  • Travel-industry rates: none were published in today’s sources.
