October 4, 2026 — The Miramar Resort in St. Pete Beach, Florida, is aiming to reopen in December 2026 after a rebuild that adds an eight-story tower and a rooftop restaurant. It will return as part of the JdV by Hyatt collection.

The property is at 4200 Gulf Boulevard. It will have 50 rooms: 30 in the new tower, each with a Gulf-view balcony, and 20 renovated rooms kept from the original 1953 courtyard motel.

Owner Kevin Bowden, whose investment group bought the Miramar in 2017, is careful about the date. “We’re shooting for December, but I don’t know if we’ll make that,” he told the St. Pete Catalyst. The resort is telling prospective guests only that it will open for the winter 2026-27 season.

Hoodline reports the motel closed after damage from Hurricanes Helene and Milton in 2024. The plan had first called for full demolition. It was redrawn in 2024 to save the 20 courtyard rooms. Sign permits were filed on September 22.

What is new

  • Solara, an eighth-floor rooftop restaurant serving steak and seafood, with Gulf views
  • A new ground-level swimming pool and bar, replacing the original pool
  • The preserved 1953 courtyard layout in the original wing

What it means for airline travelers

  • Do not plan a holiday trip around it yet. The owner himself says December may slip. Wait for a confirmed date and open reservations.
  • Two airports serve the beach. Visit St. Pete-Clearwater says Tampa International is about 45 minutes from the area’s beaches and has more than 90 nonstop flights. St. Pete-Clearwater International is the smaller alternative.
  • Hyatt points will apply. As a JdV by Hyatt hotel, the Miramar would join World of Hyatt. Award pricing has not been published.
  • Small hotel, limited rooms. With only 50 rooms on the Gulf, winter weekends could fill fast. Book early once dates open.
  • Travel-industry rates: none have been published for this property.
