October 4, 2026 — Update to our October 3 story. The strike at Corsica Linea is over, but its ferries are still tied up because the owner halted all sailings for the weekend. The CGT’s one-day fuel strike at TotalEnergies remains set for Thursday, October 8. The Pyrénées-Orientales are on orange rain alert today.

What changed

  • Corsica ferries: the CGT seafarers, the last union still out, returned to work on the evening of October 2. The owner then stopped all activity over the weekend while it reviews its commitment to the company.
  • Cancelled sailings: October 2, 3 and 4 on Marseille–Bastia, Ajaccio, Île-Rousse and Propriano in both directions, plus Marseille–Tunis on October 3 and Tunis–Marseille on October 4.
  • Restart: TBA. An AFP report on October 2 said activity was stopped until Monday, October 5, but no resumption is confirmed.
  • Refunds: Corsica Linea says changes are free and refunds are available through the agency that issued the ticket.

Still on the calendar

Date Action Status
Thu, Oct 8 CGT strike at all TotalEnergies sites: refineries, depots and about 180 motorway service stations Maintained despite a bonus offer. Hours TBA. No national shortage announced.
Oct 17–21 Pilots and cabin crew at French carriers, over pension rules Called. No change.

We found no new SNCF or air traffic control strike notice for the coming week.

Weather: Pyrénées-Orientales

The storm that hit Catalonia moved north. Forecasters expected 100 mm or more widely in Roussillon on Sunday, October 4, and over 200 mm locally, under an orange rain-and-flood alert. The alert’s end time is TBA. High-speed trains between Barcelona and France were disrupted on the Spanish side.

What it means for airline travelers

  • Corsica: do not count on a Corsica Linea sailing until the company confirms one. Other ferry companies and flights will be busier, which squeezes standby seats to Ajaccio and Bastia.
  • Driving this week: fill your rental car before Thursday, October 8, and do not rely on motorway TotalEnergies stations that day.
  • Perpignan area: avoid driving through flooded roads and check trains toward Spain before leaving.
  • October 17–21: avoid listing on French carriers on those dates if you can.
