October 5, 2026 — Ambassador Cruise Line’s French operation, formerly Compagnie Française de Croisières, says it reached 92% occupancy this season on cruises sold only to French-speaking guests. It is now trading as Ambassador Croisières.
The name change took effect on September 17. The 1,100-passenger Renaissance now carries the Ambassador “A” on its funnel and a new livery. President Mayelisse Pierrot-Guibourt said the new name “doesn’t alter our commitment to France.” Seatrade Cruise News reports that 2027 bookings are running ahead of where 2026 stood a year ago.
Where Renaissance sails
| Homeport | Program |
|---|---|
| Marseille | Mediterranean itineraries |
| Dunkirk | Northern Europe itineraries (homeport since spring 2026) |
| Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe | Winter Caribbean cruises |
What is next
- 2027: The line will market to Belgium, helped by Dunkirk sitting about six miles from the border, and to French-speaking Quebec.
- May 28, 2028: A 14-night cruise with a two-day call at Alexandria and a visit to the Giza pyramids.
- July 2028: Irish and British coastal sailings.
- 2028, date TBA: A six-day southern Norway itinerary including Oslo and northern Denmark.
What it means for airline travelers
- This is a French-language product. Onboard life is designed for French speakers. That suits Quebec-based airline staff and Francophone families more than the general North American market.
- Airports: Marseille Provence (MRS) for Mediterranean departures and Pointe-à-Pitre (PTP) for the winter Caribbean season. Dunkirk has no major airport of its own. Plan on flying into a larger gateway such as Paris or Brussels and continuing by rail or road, and allow an extra day for it.
- High occupancy means fewer late bargains. At 92% full, last-minute space is limited. Book ahead and do not rely on a close-in deal.
- Interline rates: Not mentioned in the report.
