October 7, 2026 — Atlas Ocean Voyages will offer seven pre-cruise safari programs alongside Atlas Adventurer’s spring 2029 Africa season, Seatrade Cruise News reports.
Three programs start in Nairobi and connect to voyages from Mombasa, Kenya. Four cover southern Africa, starting from Johannesburg or Cape Town.
What is on offer
- A&K Sanctuary Experience (Kenya): an eight-day journey across three private reserves, built with Abercrombie & Kent.
- Amboseli and Tsavo East (Kenya): a four-day introductory safari.
- Southern Africa programs: the Cape Winelands, private reserves in Greater Kruger, the Okavango Delta, Chobe and Victoria Falls.
Prices and exact departure dates: TBA. Chief executive James A. Rodriguez said the safaris add “a truly immersive land excursion” to the cruise.
What it means for airline travelers
- Gateways: Nairobi (NBO), Johannesburg (JNB) and Cape Town (CPT). All are long-haul with limited daily frequencies from North America.
- A safari has a fixed start day. Miss it and you may miss the ship too. On standby, plan to arrive at least two days before the land program begins.
- The trip is open-jaw. You fly into the safari gateway and home from wherever the cruise ends. List both segments early.
- Interline rates: not mentioned in the report.
