What changed
- Warning No. 2 was issued at 5 pm on October 7. It gives day-by-day regions for the spell we flagged yesterday.
- Bangkok: The Nation reports canals and water-retention areas are already high and drainage is slow in the east of the city. The districts at risk include Lat Krabang, Bang Kapi, Lat Phrao and Nong Chok, plus parts of Samut Prakan.
- Rivers: The irrigation department warned Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Samut Songkhram and Samut Sakhon of a rising Mae Klong river.
- Southern boat trips: Malaysia’s consulate in Songkhla advised its citizens to postpone marine and beach activities in southern Thailand from October 8 to 12, a trade site reports.
- Not reported: We found no rail cuts, airport disruption or ferry suspensions on October 6–7.
What it means for airline travelers
- Suvarnabhumi Airport sits beside Lat Krabang, one of the districts named. From October 10 to 12, leave extra time for road transfers or use the Airport Rail Link.
- Phuket, Krabi and Samui: The South is under the warning on all five days. Expect rough crossings and possible boat cancellations. Do not book a tight boat-to-flight connection.
- Kanchanaburi day trips: Check river conditions before visiting riverside sites.
- Standby travelers: Build in a spare day if you are flying to or from Bangkok or the southern islands between October 9 and 13. Weather delays fill later flights.
- Check the forecast daily. This outlook has shifted twice this week.
