October 8, 2026 — Hilton is now taking bookings for DoubleTree by Hilton Punta Cana Downtown for stays from February 28, 2027. Unlike most of the area’s big resorts, it is not all-inclusive and it is not on the beach.

Caribbean Journal reported the new listing on October 7, and Hilton’s website confirms the first bookable date. The hotel is at Calle Las Mercedes and Calle Willie Rodriguez in the Downtown Punta Cana district. Hilton has not published a room count.

Rooms come with one king bed or two queens, and there are two-room king suites. The hotel will have an outdoor pool, a fitness center, meeting rooms and a restaurant. Self-parking is free. Pets are not allowed.

The location suits travelers who want shops, restaurants and nightlife over a resort wristband. Plaza San Juan, Coco Bongo and Caribbean Lake Park are about five minutes away. Bávaro and Bibijagua beaches are under 20 minutes by car.

What it means for airline travelers

  • It is close to PUJ and the shuttle is free. Hilton lists the airport at 15 km with a complimentary shuttle. That makes it a practical first or last night around a standby flight.
  • A good fallback when you get bumped. A room-only hotel near the airport is easier to book for one night than an all-inclusive with a minimum stay.
  • Budget for meals and beach transport. Nothing is included, and the beach is a drive away.
  • Checkout is at noon and check-in is at 3 p.m. Plan around late-day departures.
  • Treat the first weeks as provisional. New hotels can slip. Book a rate you can cancel.
