October 9, 2026 — The permanent Live! Casino & Hotel Virginia reached its full height on October 8. Developers held a topping-out ceremony in Petersburg and named three of its restaurants. The resort is due to open in late 2027.

The project includes a 200-room hotel. It is being built by The Cordish Companies with Bruce Smith Enterprise at 301 Wagner Road, off Interstate 95, about 25 miles south of Richmond. Richmond BizSense puts the cost at $1.4 billion.

A temporary casino has operated on the site since January 2026. It will be removed when the permanent building opens.
