PENSACOLA, Florida, October 11, 2026 — Update to our October 10 story. Pensacola International Airport (PNS) reopened on Sunday, October 11, two days after closing for Hurricane Isaias. The city says flight schedules will return to normal gradually.

What changed since Saturday

  • Open again: airport officials said on Sunday morning that PNS is “back open and operational” for regularly scheduled commercial service, WALA FOX10 reports.
  • Not a full schedule yet: a City of Pensacola update, reflecting conditions at 9 a.m. Sunday, says the flight schedule will come back in stages. It asks travellers to check with their airline.
  • How long it was shut: the terminal closed to commercial flights at 10 a.m. Friday, October 9. On Saturday an airport spokesperson told WEAR-TV there was no clear timeline for reopening.
  • Damage: no damage report for the terminal or airfield has been published. City crews are still checking the airport perimeter.
  • Power and roads: Florida Power & Light has restored power to 50,000 customers in the county, the city says. Signals are still out at some intersections, which drivers must treat as four-way stops.
  • Date for a full schedule: TBA.

Airline waivers

American’s Isaias waiver covers PNS for travel scheduled October 9–11, with rebooked travel allowed October 7–14. Changes must be booked by October 11. Check your own airline’s alert page for its dates.

What it means for non-revs

  • The first flights out will be full. Two days of cancelled departures are being rebooked onto a schedule that is still ramping up. Expect poor standby odds out of PNS through at least the early part of the week.
  • Inbound is easier than outbound. Flights into Pensacola should have more open seats than flights out while the backlog clears.
  • Confirm the flight is operating before you list. Not every scheduled flight will run on Sunday.
  • Alternates: Destin-Fort Walton Beach (VPS) and Panama City (ECP) have both reopened. Mobile (MOB) is also within driving distance.
  • Allow extra time to reach the airport. Some traffic signals are dark and crews are still clearing debris.
